A; Most facilities offer "passive" storage—essentially just a locker. Hip Cellar is a "Serviced Apartment" styled Wine Storage and Tasting Lounge. We go beyond climate control to offer an all-rounded lifestyle: a manned lounge with professional stemware, winery-direct allocations, and a community of active collectors. We have been HKQAA-certified since 2013, ensuring your investment is backed by the highest technical standards in Asia.

Q: Can I buy wines directly through Hip Cellar?
A; Yes. Members get exclusive access to winery-direct allocations. This allows you to build your collection with 100% guaranteed provenance, as the wine moves directly from the winery to our certified facility without middleman risks. You may also get access to wines consigned by your neighbours, which include back vintage gems from diverse regions of the world.

Q: Can I sell my wines through Hip Cellar?
A: Yes. We offer integrated trading services and consignment options. Because your wine has been stored in our HKQAA-certified environment, it often helps achieve higher liquidity when trading within our community or to outside buyers.

Q: What is the "Daily Due Diligence" system?
A: Every day, we cross-reference data from our industrial cooling units against independent Testo data loggers. This dual-sensor verification ensures that if one system fails, the other catches it. Any fluctuation triggers an instant alert to our technical engineering team.

Q: What happens to my wine every day?
A: Our team performs below maintenance tasks daily:

Temperature and Humidity; Vibration and Lighting Control: We ensure that temperature and humidity corresponds with the standards set by HKQAA Fine Wine Storage standards; and that the cellar area is free from vibration and excessive light exposure.

Sanitation: We clean the cellar and remove empty original wooden cases (OWC) or cardboard.

Receiving: We act as your concierge, receiving wine deliveries.

Trading: We assist you to liquidate any part of wine collection that you do not wish to keep.

🔄 Logistics & Ease of Use

Q: How do wine deliveries work if I'm not there?
A: You don't need to be present. We receive wines on your behalf and place them in our Transit Cellar or Self-Pickup Lockers. You have 7 days to retrieve them or move them into your long-term unit.

Q: Can I send my wine from the cellar to a new destination?
A: Yes. We handle both local and international logistics:

Local: Check our "Wine Delivery and Selling" page for rates.

International: We provide custom quotes upon request.

Security: We only dispatch from your storage unit if a signed authorization form is provided; otherwise, we ship from the Transit Cellar.

Q: Does Hip Cellar check my wine's condition when it arrives?
A: No. To protect your privacy and ensure efficient intake, we handle receiving and temporary storage only. We do not open your cases for inventory or condition checks upon arrival.

🔐 Access & Security

Q: Can I give someone else access to my unit?
A: Yes, you can authorize up to two additional persons. However, for your security, our staff cannot grant access if they forget their password. Only the Main Account Holder can request a password reset or emergency access.

Q: What is the smallest storage size and best rate?
A: We offer everything from individual lockers to large private units. Our Block C units (12-hour, 6-day access) offer our most competitive rates, while Block B (24/7 access) offers maximum flexibility. The starting price for our individual lockers is HKD 380 per month. Contact us for a personalized quote based on your current bottle / case count.

🥩 Lifestyle & The Ngau Steak Club

Q: What do I get from Hip Cellar's sister business Ngau Steak Club?
A: Located at our Tin Hau site, Ngau Steak Club allows members to enjoy a "cellar-to-table" experience. You can bring your own stored wines to the club to pair with world-class steaks. The lounge is also manned Monday to Saturday from 3:00 PM until late, serving wine-friendly bites and using professional-grade stemware. All cellar members also enjoy an exclusive 10% off whole bill when dining at Ngau Steak Club.
